Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.

City officials said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior representative said the vandalism made him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
